Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Anuj Khemka and this is my National Journalist of the Year Portfolio from my senior year of high school in 2022. My work over four years of student journalism, showcased on this website, won me recognition as Virginia Student Journalist of the Year and as one of four finalists for the National Student Journalist of the Year award.

I crafted this portfolio as the print editor-in-chief of tjTODAY. I had also contributed to numerous other publications, including ARLNow, InsideNOVA, Lenses News, and the Arlington Historical Society newsletter.

Over my four years as a student journalist, I learned to interview with confidence, write with clarity, and choose the most effective storytelling methods at my disposal. Along the way, I covered everything from admissions controversies to the impact of a global pandemic, while using a wide variety of platforms to tell those stories.

This portfolio represents the culmination of four years of my life in journalism — of its triumphs, challenges, and lessons. I'm incredibly grateful for the people I was  able to interview, for the stories I had a chance to cover, and for the obstacles that were there for me to overcome. With that in mind, as you explore my portfolio, I hope you see not just the impact that I had as a journalist, but the impact that journalism had on me.
